SoundSeeing Tours .. Everything old is new again........

In the last couple of months all manner of recording archavists have been putting up amazing new recordings whose roots go back much further than most of the creators realize. For instance, sound seeing tours are going great gang busters, but for decades the recording of a time and place has been happening in force. Of course with the nets reach these old things, and the new ones, are reaching a wider audience than ever before.

Something Old....
  • " In the late 1950s, photographer O. Winston Link decided to document the end of an era -- capturing steam trains in pictures and sound recordings. Using an 80-pound tape recorder hooked up to a custom-built portable power supply, Link recorded on the trains themselves, and in the towns they passed through."

  • Jean Shepherd 1970 tour of a steel mill

    Something New....
  • Adam Curry records a chunk of his day which includes an interview at the BBC, a train ride and some London street happenings.

  • Father Roderick goes deep inside the Vatican palace, where no journalist has ever been before.
